Chuck Music Lessons Darby-14

Guitar lessons available at G.M. Darby Building and Park West Program Building.

Chuck Davis has been MPRD’s guitar instructor for over ten years. As a professional guitarist and vocalist for more than 25 years, he has been the lead vocalist for popular local band, Plane Jane, for four years and was the local coordinator for the Nashville Songwriters International for two years. Chuck has had songs played on the radio, has played in Las Vegas, Nashville, twice in the Virgin Islands, and throughout the southeast while touring with his bands. After 20 years of performing, Chuck discovered his gift for teaching and encouraging others to develop their confidence and knowledge in the instrument and themselves.

Piano lessons available at G.M. Darby Building. 

Born in Ukraine, Anna Savelyeva is an active soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist. Her talent has been recognized through awards for outstanding creative achievement in many international piano competitions. She received master classes with renowned pianists and teachers. Anna earned a bachelor's degree from the Liudkevich Lviv State College of Music and a master's degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. Currently, Anna studies with Dr. Volodymyr Vynnytsky under the Artist Certificate Program at the College of Charleston. Anna thoroughly enjoys the unique personalities of her students, challenging them to consistently build their skills and musical talents.

Mr. Caleb Coker has been playing the viola for 18 years. He graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Music in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a concentration in instrumental music education. While at USC, he taught in the nationally acclaimed String Project Program directed by Dr. Gail Barnes and performed in the USC Symphony, Chamber Music Program, and the New Voices concert. He studied under Dr. Constance Gee and Dr. Daniel Sweaney. When not teaching or practicing, you can find Mr. Coker studying Russian or cooking.

Voice lessons available at G.M. Darby Building, R.L. Jones Center, and Park West Program Building.

Jordan Harness has been involved with music for the last 20 years. She started singing at 10 years old. Jordan started learning classical instruments like flute and piano, then added guitar, ukulele, and other instruments in her repertoire. Her main focus is as a singer songwriter. Jordan was worship leader at her church for 4 years, youth music leader for 2 years, and now a vocalist and keyboard player for the local band “Invisible from Inside”. Jordan works with multiple styles of contemporary music depending on the student’s goals with lessons.  Her lessons focus on improving vocal techniques while helping the student find their own unique sound. Jordan’s favorite part of teaching students is seeing the passion for self expression through singing and music. When she isn’t teaching lessons, Jordan works as a Biochemist for a medical laboratory and spends time with her golden retriever.

How do I set up a private lesson?

  1. Call the Darby Building during business hours at (843) 849-2061 for the contact information for the instructor.
  2. Contact the instructor to coordinate a date and time for scheduled lessons.
  3. Payment is due on the first lesson of every month.

How much do private lessons cost?

Monthly payments of $100 per resident are based on four, 30-minute lessons. If there are five weeks in a month, an additional $25 is required. There will be no pro-rating for lessons missed unless the lesson is canceled by the instructor.
