Learn Our Story Through Historical Markers
The Town of Mount Pleasant Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee is pleased to sponsor a grant program to erect Historical Roadside Markers within the town limits.The program is funded by the Accommodations Tax and administered by the Town of Mount Pleasant Historical Commission. There are numerous markers located throughout Mount Pleasant and each interprets an important part of our town's story. Please view a list of historical markers and locate each on the historical marker map.Old Village Historic District Wellness Walk
Set out on a history-based walking tour featuring 20 historical markers routed through Mount Pleasant's Old Village Historic District. This enjoyable walk, created by the Moultrie Middle School Wellness Committee, begins and ends close to Moultrie Middle School on Coleman Blvd. Free parking is available at the school Farmers Market.Historic District Wellness Walk Brochure

Tap the Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled label on signage and Historical markers throughout Mount Pleasant. If the sign or marker is NFC enabled, you will see this logo:These NFC enabled labels connect to our Mount Pleasant Historical app site and will provide you with additional information about the site, including other resources. It also enables you to download the Mount Pleasant Historical app and follow us on Instagram.
How to Use: "Tap" Our NFC Enabled Labels
You will need a smart phone or other mobile device with NFC technology, both Android and Apple devices will work. Please note that your device must be connected to the internet either through a cell signal or Wi-Fi. You must have NFC set to “on" in the phone. For older Apple devices download the app.
- Swipe down from the top of your screen to reveal settings.
- Click on the gear icon.
- From the list, select “Connected Devices.”
- Set the NFC switch to “on” to activate NFC.
- Once NFC is on, simply tap your device against the NFC Enabled Label to be taken to the information page.
