The Divisions of Planning, Land Use, and Neighborhoods

DSC_0149The Office of Neighborhood Livability works proactively to improve neighborhood livability in Mount Pleasant through protecting community character, enriching neighborhoods, administering the Town ordinances, and implementing the Comprehensive Plan.

This office will focus on defining ways to enrich and strengthen our neighborhoods--the places where we live, work, and play. This will be accomplished by defining community character through public involvement plans and processes, and enriching neighborhoods through on-the-ground initiatives and programs. The expansion of programs will be a work in progress over the coming years, as we identify and build the additional resources that we need.

people around table picThe Office of Community Planning and Zoning assumes the responsibility of administering and enforcing the Town's zoning ordinances, land development regulations, and municipal impact fees. The planning area extends from the Ravenel Bridge north to Guerins Bridge Road and includes land outside the Town's corporate limits. 

The Town's Code of Ordinances were enacted to best promote the interests of the citizens and property holders of the municipality. The ordinances include the Zoning Code and Land Development Regulations which are based, in part, and designed to implement the Comprehensive Plan to help ensure efficient, equitable, and reasoned land use decisions.
